Any help is more than welcome. So just setup the route one place on Synology, and now all my devices can print. If you want to use method 2, look for a list of supported printers from the printserver manufacturer. Finally got around to fooling with that this morning – 30 seconds later, I had added the network printer to the Synology, told it to provide AirPrint services and printed something from my phone. I ended up giving up and just hooking up my printer diskstatjon my router, which depressingly worked the first time.
